PLACERVILLE, CA - A 14-year-old girl died after she was struck by a vehicle in El Dorado County earlier this week.
A driver in a Honda CR-V struck the girl as she was walking after school on Carson east of Barkley Road, reports the Sacramento Bee. He originally fled the scene but has since been identified as 23-year-old Anthony Baron Smith from Pollock Pines.
Smith was arrested and taken into custody on felony charges of voluntary manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol.
The incident remains under investigation.
