SACRAMENTO, CA -- A tractor-trailer overturned in a crash Wednesday morning, closing a ramp to U.S. Route 50 eastbound near the Cypress Meadows neighborhood in east Sacramento, according to California Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred on the south onramp from Watt Avenue to US-50 eastbound and was reported by CHP shortly before 10:00 a.m.

Little information has been reported on the events leading up to the crash and the number of vehicles involved, but a semi was found overturned on its side on the ramp. An overturned big rig possibly hauling a trailer was reported to be leaking fluid from several areas, and meat was seen spilled in the roadway. A dump truck carrying bricks was also described having spilled is contents onto the right hand shoulder of the freeway.

An ambulance was requested at the scene, though no injuries have been confirmed at this time. The drivers involved were reported to have exited their vehicles.

Other emergency vehicles were dispatched to the scene, including a fire truck, a sand truck for the oil spill, and a tow truck for the big rig.

The ramp was closed at 10:38 a.m. as crews responded.

By 11:10 a.m., CHP projected an additional hour or more before the reopening of the ramp.
