Two hurt in multi-car crash on I-5 offramp in north Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, CA -- Two people were injured Thursday evening in a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 5 near north Sacramento's Metro Center area, according to California Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred on the I-5 southbound offramp to I-80 westbound and was first reported by CHP shortly after 5:00 p.m.

It was not immediately clear what led up to the crash, but at least three vehicles, including a Toyota Camry, were involved. One of the vehicles came to rest in the roadway and was blocking the center lanes, while the other vehicles came to a stop in a nearby gore point.

Two people were reported injured and required an ambulance to a nearby hospital. The severity of their condition was not disclosed.

By 5:28 p.m., the scene had been cleared from the roadway.
