SACRAMENTO, CA -- Three people were injured early Tuesday in a crash caused by a suspected DUI driver on Interstate 5 near Sacramento's Natomas area, reports ABC 10.
The accident took place near El Camino Avenue, south of the Interstate 80 interchange, at around 1:00 a.m.
California Highway Patrol said a BMW was traveling in the wrong direction when it struck a tractor trailer, causing a fire to erupt on the roadway.
Two occupants in the tractor trailer suffered injuries in the crash, but it was unclear whether they had to to be transported to a hospital. Their condition remains undisclosed.
Authorities said the driver of the BMW received treatment for minor injuries before being taken into custody for suspected DUI.
A section of I-5 southbound was closed to traffic for several hours as crews worked to clear the scene.
CHP warned motorcyclists to ride with extra caution when traveling through the area, which had become slick due to a resulting fuel leak.
