Suspected DUI driver injured after crashing into gate in Citrus Heights

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA -- One person was hurt Friday evening after crashing their car into an apartment gate in Citrus Heights, according to California Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Greenback Lane and Desimone Lane shortly before 5:53 p.m.

Authorities said a driver crashed a white Toyota Camry into residential gate and was seen seen driving eastbound in the westbound lanes immediately after the crash.

The driver was soon pulled out of the vehicle when it caught fire moments later.  An ambulance was en route to transport the victim to a hospital for minor injuries.

It is unclear what led up to the incident, but CHP said the driver was suspected of driving while intoxicated.
