Road worker killed by hit-and-run driver on Hwy 99 in Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, CA -- A 47-year-old Caltrans worker was killed Monday night when he was struck by a pickup truck that fled the scene on Highway 99 in Sacramento, according to ABC10.

The collision occurred along the northbound lanes of Highway 99 near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at around 9:00 p.m.

The man was setting up a construction zone when he was struck by a Ford F-150 pickup truck that traveled into the right shoulder. Investigators have not clarified whether or not they believe the action was intentional.

The incident was being investigated by California Highway Patrol. Authorities continue to search for the driver responsible and encourage anyone with information to contact CHP at 916-897-5600.

The truck likely sustained damage to its right side and may be missing a side-view mirror due to the accident.
