SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA -- One person was seriously injured Wednesday evening in a pedestrian accident near the Sacramento Metro Fire District Station 108 in Fair Oaks, according to California Highway Patrol.

The incident took place at the intersection of Dewey Drive and Winding Way and was first reported by CHP at 5:54 p.m.

It was unclear what led up to the crash, but the driver of a black Nissan Murano struck the victim.

The Nissan came to rest in the roadway blocking the far left lane, and multiple other drivers pulled over in response to the event.

CHP said the victim suffered major injuries and was transported to Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Carmichael.

By 6:08 p.m., the roadway was reported cleared, and the Nissan had been moved to the nearby fire station.

No further details have been disclosed on the involved parties.
