ROSEVILLE, CA -- A man died Thursday afternoon after a two-vehicle crash that seriously another on Fiddyment Road north of Roseville, according to CBS Sacramento.
The collision occurred south of the Sunset Boulevard West intersection shortly before 3:30 p.m.
Authorities say the man was driving a Honda southbound on the road when he lost control of the car and veered into the northbound lane. The Honda then partially collided head-on with an oncoming semi-truck.
Crews worked to extricate the driver of the Honda and his male passenger, who were both found unconscious.
Both victims were transported to a nearby hospital with major injuries, where the driver was later pronounced deceased, confirmed California Highway Patrol.
The driver of the semi did not sustain significant injuries.
At 5:30 p.m., at least two hours after the crash, Fiddyment Road remained closed in both directions around the scene.
A preliminary investigation by CHP indicates drugs may have contributed to the fatal crash.
