SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA -- At least one person was injured Thursday evening after a major two-vehicle accident near south Rio Linda, according to California Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Rio Linda Boulevard and Marysville Boulevard shortly before 6:00 p.m.

Few details have been provided, but a dark-colored pickup truck and a white sedan were involved in a head-on collision.

The CHP crash report indicates the driver of the white sedan was driving recklessly moments before the accident. The impact of the crash left the sedan without its front left wheel.

Both vehicles came to rest in the roadway, causing Rio Linda Boulevard to shut down in both directions by 6:14 p.m. as crews responded.

Shortly before 7:00 p.m., both vehicles had been towed from the scene and the road was reopened to traffic.

As of 7:20 p.m. Thursday, CHP signaled major injuries were sustained in the event, but has not confirmed the number of people hurt.
