SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA -- At least one person was hurt Monday night in a single-vehicle accident on Gold Country Boulevard in Gold River, according to California Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred on the eastbound lanes of the road at the Blue Ledge Drive intersection shortly before 7:53 p.m.

CHP indicated a white Mercedes was traveling east when it left the main travel lanes and collided with a tree.

The Mercedes came to rest partially in the bicycle lane and on the sidewalk, and authorities arrived to find the vehicle smoking and possibly catching fire.

Minor injuries were sustained by at least one occupant, though it was not immediately clear whether they were being taken to a hospital.

Authorities said the vehicle received major front end damage and was being towed from the scene.
