SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA -- One person was injured late Friday afternoon when a car crashed into a parked vehicle in front of Rio Linda Library in central Rio Linda, according to California Highway Patrol.

The accident happened at the intersection of 6th Avenue and M Street and was first reported by CHP at 4:17 p.m.

A preliminary investigation shows the driver of a dark-colored Nissan sedan collided with a red Toyota Corolla that was parked near the intersection.

According to CHP, the causing driver suffered lacerations and was referred to medical crews, though it was unclear whether or not they were being transported to a hospital.

No other injuries were reported.

A tow truck was required at the scene for at least one of the involved vehicles, suggesting significant damage.

CHP confirmed the Nissan was released back to its registered owner, the mother of the causing driver.
