Off-duty Elk Grove police officer killed in motorcycle crash

SACRAMENTO, CA - The Elk Grove police officer who was involved in a collision on Highway 99 last Friday has died.

According to CBS 13, the officer was riding home from work shortly after 5:15 a.m. when his motorcycle collided head-on with another vehicle near 12th Avenue and Sutterville Road.

The officer was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries later on.

It is unclear at this time if impairment played a role in the deadly crash.
