SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA -- A multi-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon blocked up to four lanes on U.S. Highway 50 near Rancho Cordova's Kirkwood Place area, according to TTWN Sacramento.

The crash occurred on the ramp connecting Sunrise Boulevard to US-50 westbound shortly before 4:00 p.m.
Authorities initially reported two center lanes closed, but by 4:15 p.m., the closure included an additional two left lanes.

Few details have been released at this time, but California Highway Patrol indicated four vehicles were involved in the accident.
It was not immediately clear whether anyone was injured.
The event created a heavy traffic backup stretched one exit back to Hazel Avenue.
By 4:30 p.m., the scene had cleared from the roadway.
