ROSEVILLE, CA -- A 43-year-old Lincoln man died Thursday morning after losing control of his motorcycle on an Interstate 80 offramp near south Roseville, according to The Sacramento Bee.
California Highway Patrol said officers responded to the scene on the eastbound lanes of I-80 near Riverside Avenue at about 11:20 a.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates the victim was riding a 2008 Yamaha motorcycle near a group of other motorcyclists when he suddenly lost control of his bike. He swerved to the right side of the roadway and onto the offramp, where he collided with a wooden signpost. The impact of the crash caused the rider to eject from the motorcycle, which was thrown 200 feet down the roadway before coming to a stop.
Responding medics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
No further details have been released at this time, but CHP said no drugs or alcohol appeared to have contributed to the fatal crash.
An investigation was underway.
