Man seriously injured in fiery two-car crash near west Arden-Arcade

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA -- A man was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision near the Howe Bout Arden shopping center in Arden-Arcade, according to California Highway Patrol.

CHP officers and Sacramento Fire crews responded to the accident near the intersection of Howe Avenue and Arden Way at approximately 1:53 p.m.

A serious collision between a green Chevy pickup truck and a gray Dodge Charger caused major fender damage and an engine fire in the pickup truck, trapping a male victim inside.

Bystanders tried to pull the victim out of the vehicle while using an extinguisher to put flames out.

The man suffered serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.

No other injuries have been reported. A tow truck was called to the scene to clear the wreck blocking two lanes.
