Man dies after speeding truck collides with pole in Elverta

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA -- A man died Wednesday morning after a single-vehicle accident that injured another in east Elverta, according to KCRA.

The fatal crash happened on Elverta Road between Cherry Island Golf Course and Gibson Ranch shortly after 2:00 a.m.

California Highway Patrol said a truck was speeding when it lost control, struck the gravel shoulder, and collided with a pole.

One male occupant in his 40s was pronounced deceased at the scene. It was not immediately clear whether he was the driver or a passenger.

Another male occupant described as being in his 20s was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital with undisclosed injuries.
