SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA -- At least one person was injured late Thursday afternoon in a collision involving two vehicles near an industrial area in east Rio Linda, according to California Highway Patrol.

The accident took place near the intersection of Elkhorn Boulevard and 26th Street shortly before 4:07 p.m.

CHP officers and fire crews were dispatched to the scene where both a white pickup truck and a silver Chevy sedan caught fire after a collision.

Few details have been reported on what led up to the crash, but the crash report indicates one party was pulled out of a vehicle and at least one person sustained minor injuries.

Passersby tried to help extinguish the vehicle fires before emergency crews arrived. One of the vehicles was reported completely engulfed in flames.

By 4:20 p.m., motorists were asked to avoid Elkhorn Boulevard and take alternate routes.
