Hit-and-run reported on I-5 near American River in Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, CA -- A hit-and-run collision was reported Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 5 near the American River in north Sacramento, according to California Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred on the southbound lanes of I-5 just north of Richards Boulevard shortly before 3:07 p.m.

Few details have been reported at this time, but the crash involved four vehicles that were at one point blocking the far left lane.

The Freeway Service Patrol said impacted vehicles include a black VW Rabbit, a red Honda Accord, a red pickup truck, and a blue Ford.

One of the involved drivers was reported to have abandoned their vehicle, though authorities did not identify which car.

A tow truck was en route to the scene, suggesting significant damage to at least one vehicle.

As of 4:24 p.m., CHP has reported no injuries in the crash.
