Driver dies after big rig overturns on I-5 in North Natomas

SACRAMENTO, CA -- One person died Thursday morning after an 18-wheeler overturned in a crash on Interstate 5 in north Sacramento's Natomas area, according to FOX 40.

The accident happened on the northbound lanes near Del Paso Road and was first reported by Sacramento Police at 10:17 a.m.

Few details have been made available at this time, but authorities confirmed the driver of the big rig was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other vehicles were involved.

More than a dozen Sacramento Fire crews and officials responded, and at least two tow trucks were required to clear the roadway.

An investigation into the cause of the accident was underway.
