SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA -- A vehicle accident late Wednesday afternoon blocked a left lane and a shoulder on Interstate 80 near the Verne area of Citrus Heights, according to TTWN Sacramento.
The collision occurred on the westbound lanes of I-80 after Antelope Road and was first reported by TTWN at 3:35 p.m.

No details have been provided at this time, but the event created a significant traffic backup that ultimately impacted commuters five exits back.

By 4:20 p.m., nearly an hour after the first report of the crash, the scene had been cleared from the roadway, though traffic was delayed back to Taylor Road.
