SACRAMENTO, CA -- A vehicle accident late Tuesday morning was blocking the shoulder and caused a traffic backup on Capital City Freeway eastbound in northeast Sacramento, according to TTWN Sacramento.

The crash happened on the eastbound stretch of the freeway approaching the American River and was first reported at 11:15 a.m.
Motorists were initially warned of delays extending back to T Street, but by 11:20 a.m., the backup had already shortened to N Street.
