SACRAMENTO, CA -- A vehicle accident late Wednesday afternoon was blocking three right lanes on Interstate 80 westbound in northeast Sacramento, according to TTWN Sacramento.

The accident happened in the westbound lanes of I-80 west of the merge to Capital City Freeway near North Highlands and was first reported at 2:50 p.m.
The crash caused a traffic backup all the way down to Madison Avenue.
At 3:25 p.m., the scene was reported cleared, though evening commuters were warned of lingering delays impacting the westbound lanes stretching back to Elkhorn Boulevard and Greenback Lane.
