ROSEVILLE, CA - Two people were killed by a driver as they were walking back to their vehicle on I-80 around 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

According to Gold Country Media, the couple was driving along I-80 near Roseville Parkway when they witnessed a collision between a Honda Accord and a Nissan Altima. They pulled in front of the vehicles and got out of their car to check on the drivers involved to make sure no one was injured.

As they were heading back to their own vehicle, a driver, 45-year-old Brandy Kincaid in a Jeep Commander swerved into the center lane to avoid the collision and struck the couple. Diana Filinyuk, 19, and Michael Olifir, 21, both died on the scene.

Kincaid was not arrested. The Honda Accord driver involved in the initial collision was arrested for driving under the influence. None of the drivers were injured in the accident.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.
