Bicyclist seriously hurt after crash with school bus in Rancho Cordova

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA -- A man was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a school bus while riding a bicycle in southeast Rancho Cordova, according to CBS Sacramento.

The accident took place on Sunrise Boulevard, near the Folsom Boulevard intersection shortly before 2:00 p.m.

It is unclear what led up to the crash, but the unidentified cyclist suffered serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.

According to Rancho Cordova Police Department, no children were riding the school bus at the time of the incident.

Shortly before 3:30 p.m., all northbound lanes on Sunrise Boulevard were closed to traffic as authorities worked the scene.
