Bicyclist dies after being hit by vehicle in Rancho Cordova

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA - A bicyclist was declared dead on the scene after being hit by a vehicle along Zinfandel Drive on New Year's Day, reports ABC10.

Police say the incident happened shortly after 7 p.m., when a southbound vehicle struck the bicyclist as they were attempting to cross Zinfandel south of International Drive.

Emergency responders pronounced the bicyclist dead at the scene.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

Little else is known about the incident at this time, and the bicyclist's identity remains unknown. Police ask that anyone who witnessed the crash contact them at their earliest convenience.
