2 killed in single-vehicle crash in N Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, CA - Two people were killed early this morning after their Prius collided with a tree at a high rate of speed in Del Paso Heights, reports KCRA3.

It was 1:10 a.m. when the driver of the Prius took an eastbound offramp from I-80 towards Raley Boulevard and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle then struck a nearby tree with enough force to split the car in two. Both occupants of the Prius were thrown from the vehicle and were pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

As of writing, only the driver, a 35-year-old Sacramento man, has been identified by police. They have not released his name to the public.

Police cleared the scene of debris within a couple of hours and traffic was not affected.
