2 dead after fiery head-on collision in Modesto

MODESTO, CA - Two people were killed in a collision on West Main Street in Modesto early Monday morning.

According to KCRA, the crash happened around 5:45 a.m. on West Main Street near Carpenter Road. A driver in a westbound Subaru SUV was attempting to pass other vehicles on the roadway.

He struck an oncoming driver in a Honda sedan head-on. The impact caused the Subaru to roll over and catch fire.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
